We continue to plug along steadfastly working to successfully reach our annual Membership/Fund Drive goal of $120,000 for our current fiscal year. To date we have achieved 70% of that goal – a BIG THANK YOU to those who responded to our most recent pleas. We have recently received word from the Ohio Arts Council that the second year of our operating support grant has been cut 11% for this fiscal year. We were prepared with a 6% cut in our budget (which is what had been the anticipated loss). As recently as five years ago, the Arts Center was granted about $28,000 annually from the OAC. For this fiscal year grant from the state is $16,000. That’s a HUGE change, which makes it all the more critical for us to raise and achieve our annual local fundraising goal. The Ashtabula Arts Center has consistently been ranked in the top five of those receiving grants funding from the OAC over the past several grants panel assessments. In fact, we were ranked number 2 in the last go around – out of close to 90 grants ranked. This is something of which to be very proud – not only for the Arts Center, but also for our regional area. We did receive a phone call from a local patron who noted after my last article about supporting the Arts Center we had not included specific information about how to do just that. If you would like to give to the Arts Center, please give us a call to inquire about membership levels and ways to donate.
