Director's Desk Jan/Feb. 2005:
Posted: Tuesday, January 11, 2005

Happy New Year!! Is it just me--or does time seem to speed up as the years go by? I can’t believe it’s 2005 already. It seems like just yesterday we were ushering in the new millennium with great celebration.

With each New Year comes new optimism and hopes. The staff at the Arts Center is continuously refining, introducing, experimenting and creating new offerings of all types. Certainly we present old favorites when it comes to many of our theatre
productions, but we also like to challenge ourselves, our actors and our audiences with new to our area shows--we all look forward to “Picasso at the Lapin Agile” later this spring. While “The Nutcracker” has become a holiday tradition at the AAC, the Spring Dance Concert always “raises the bar” when it comes to technique, uniqueness, beauty and creativity. The music department has added three new instructors in the past couple of months making it even more challenging to find enough space for lessons, but keeping up with the demand of local students. The visual arts department offers the basics in drawing, painting, etc. and is also offering many one shot opportunities to take a specific class in a particular technique.

We ask that you assist us in helping us to shape our offerings. If there is a particular class you would like to see offered here--please let us know.

This year we hope to put together a brief survey questionnaire that we hope you will complete. We want to know a little more about who you are, where you live, what brings you to the AAC, what we do well, what we could do better, etc. I’ll let you know more about this as we progress in the process.

We hope you will read through this newsletter and our forthcoming issues. Sign up for a class. Come see a show. Volunteer. Enjoy! Hope to see you soon.
