Directors Desk July/August:
Posted: Monday, July 10, 2006

Happy Summer - yippee it's finally here! Activities are teeming at the Arts Center. Straw Hat Theatre has opened for its 40th season, summer classes and camps have begun, former students and participants are back in the fold, and there's just a touch of summer mania in the air affecting all of us.

July also marks the opening of a new fiscal year at the Arts Center. With each new year comes the formidable job of raising the necessary dollars to keep the Arts Center going and growing. We are very fortunate we have a very dedicated group of individuals who doggedly pursue the almighty dollar for arts sake. The annual membership/fund drive for the Arts Center is the firm foundation of our annual break-even budget. It comprises a full 20% of the necessary dollars to keep us going and growing. The very dedicated Arts Center staff members do their part by offering programs and activities that make up about 55% of the budget. The final 25% comes from grants and fundraising activities sponsored both by the Arts Center itself and by Women's Service League of Ashtabula County. As you can see each and every one of these components is critical to the Center's overall being.

As we begin this fiscal year we have raised only about 60% of the necessary dollars for our annual fund drive. Most of you who are receiving this newsletter have already gotten a letter in the mail asking you to please consider contributing to the Center. Some of you have already responded, and we thank you very much. We hope the rest of you are still seriously considering the possibility of donating to the Center. If every family, person and/or business on our current mailing list of approximately 5,000 would contribute at least $25.00 we would reach our target. If by chance you have mislaid your mailing about the fund drive, there is a form included in this newsletter, which you can clip, fill out and mail to us with your donation. If you would like more information, please don't hesitate to call me at 964-3396. I would be glad to discuss any questions you may have.

The arts and the Ashtabula Arts Center are for everyone. We hope that your past and future experience with us have shown we have value - not only to you but also to your family and to our community at large. Please join us. We need your help and your support. I believe you will be making a wise investment in our area. Thank you.
