Summer seems to take forever to arrive in Northeastern Ohio and then WHAM it's upon us in full force. This same cycle is mirrored at the Arts Center annually. Not that we ever have an extended "down" time at the AAC, but we do have a couple of short lulls in our calendar throughout the year. The first of these happens after the Spring Dance Concert closes and appears to the outside world to go until Straw Hat Theatre opens for the summer season.

What actually is not seen during this time is the enormous amount of energy and work that is going into the preparation of making that opening night of the season as special and smooth as possible. Hundreds of hours expended by both volunteers and employees have thoroughly cleaned the Straw Hat building and concession stand. Lighting, sound and "back of the house" equipment has been moved from the main building to the outside and put in place for our brief and intense summer theater season. Actors, musicians, directors, costumers, choreographers, backstage crew and front of the house personnel have all worked very hard to help kick-off the new season successfully and with great polish. Not only is theater in the offing for the summer season, but also at least two sessions of 3-week summer camps, 6-week sessions of a variety of classes, and two 6-week series of Brown Bag Theatre concerts are all getting launched at approximately the same time.

Therefore, what appears to be a lull in the action at the Arts Center is actually a virtual beehive of activity in preparation for our region's all too brief summer season. KUDOS to all who participate and really get involved to make sure we get it all done in an organized and timely manner. THANK YOU especially to all our volunteers who, in spite of their own numerous personal commitments, make the time to come out and help get the Arts Center ready for our summer activities. We hope you will take a little time to reflect upon all that goes into helping to make your visit to the Arts Center a little more comfortable and pleasurable. BRAVO - to all our supporters. From those who cleaned the popcorn machine, to those who have given us monetary support to keep our programs going and growing, to those in front of the footlights, to those backstage, to those who assist in classes, etc., etc. - we could not do it without you!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!
