Monday Classes

(C) Ballet I
Studio A
10 - 11 a.m.
with Cara Seymour
Eight weeks beginning June 11
Formal instruction in classical ballet. Students will learn basic ballet vocabulary and basic body alignment.

(T, A) Intermediate Jazz
Studio B
10 - 11 a.m.
Taught by Clover Robinson
Eight weeks beginning June 11
Students will continue to explore basic technique with emphasis placed on correct body placement, coordination, strength and flexibility. Jazz combinations will include multiple turns, jumps and challenging floorwork.

(C, T, A) Ballet III & IV
Studio A
11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Eight weeks beginning June 11
Continue the study of the principles of classical ballet. Multiple turns, batteries and grand allegro steps will be introduced. Students will be expected to work with greater emphasis on discipline, exactness and precision in skills.

11 - 12:30 p.m.

Eight weeks beginning June 11
Recommended for students who have had a year of Ballet I training. Classes will focus on proper body alignment, strength building & flexibility. Dance combinations will be introduced.

12:30 - 1:30 p.m.

Eight weeks beginning June 11
This class is designed to help students effectively stretch and elongate muscles, allowing them greater freedom of movement in their dance.

Eight weeks beginning June 12
For the intermediate and advanced dancer. Isolate and understand correct muscle usage without the effects of gravity. Correct technique will be explored while strengthening the muscles used in dance allowing for better body alignment.

If you can walk, you can dance! Learn the basic style and steps of the jitterbug, waltz, polka, foxtrot, rumba, cha cha, free-style, and student requests. Dance shoes recommended but not required.

Introducing basic technique involving an understanding of correct body placement and development of coordination, strength and flexibility. Learn basic jazz combinations set to current pop music.

(C) Pre-Ballet

For Ages 5 - 7

Eight weeks beginning June 14
Exploring a modified ballet technique. Basic ballet vocabulary, basic body alignment and rhythm will be introduced. Prerequisite: Creative dance or coordinator’s permission.

(T, A) Advanced Jazz

Eight weeks beginning June 14
Students will be introduced to floor work and challenging jazz combinations that incorporate intricate footwork, turns and upper body work.

(C) Creative Movement

for ages 4 & 5

Eight weeks beginning June 14
This class for young children works with explore-ing space and movement at different levels, improving coordination and utilizing different body parts. Children will work with shapes, moving in different directions and improving their understanding of time and rhythm. Participants will work independently as well as collaboratively, and will always need to bring their creative imaginations with them!

(C) Beginning Tap for Children

5:30 - 6:15 p.m.
for ages 5 - 10

Eight weeks beginning June 14
Students will gain a firm foundation and understanding of the fundamentals needed by all tap dancers! The vocabulary and beginning steps learned will be steadily built upon, and dancers will gain rhythmic skill, coordination and concentration, while at the same time having fun moving to great music!

Students will review the basic steps and continue to learn more difficult rhythmic patterns and new step combinations.

(T,A) Beginning/Intermediate Modern
7:15 - 8:15 p.m.

Eight weeks beginning June 14
This class will be based in part on the technique of Jose Limon. Students will learn modern dance basics and a new approach to movement potential with explarations in anatomy and movement efficiency.

Fun Funky Fitness “Street Dance” Workout
Tuesdays and/or Thursdays
6 - 7 p.m.
Once per week: $45 class fee/$40 member rate
Twice per week: $84 class fee/$76 member rate
Six weeks beginning June 12
This class utilizes basic moves choreographed to high energy music. Designed to improve your cardio-vascular endurance and condition and tone your body while having fun, this class will keep you coming back for more! Wear comfortable workout clothing and shoes.
