CONVERSATIONAL RUSSIAN LANGUAGE

for teens and adults
with Natella Askerova, a native of the former USSR

Tuesdays, 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.

for 7 weeks beginning June 16

Session fee: $35/$31.50 member rate

Limited to 10 students
We will study the Russian alphabet and learn to read simple words, sentences, and popular expressions. Plus learn some Russian history, geography and traditions!

Learn the basics of hand dyeing. Bring 3 100% cotton t-shirts and 6 pairs of socks with as high a cotton content as you can find (they don’t come in 100%). Blends and synthetics will not give nice results.

HAIR BRAIDING WORKSHOP

Learn a variety of techniques. Students sign up in pairs. One learns the technique while the other is braided. Students being braided need at least shoulder length hair.

HENNA BODY ART WORKSHOP

From ancient Egypt to modern culture we have been transforming our bare skin into a canvas of beauty. Henna body art lasts 1-4 weeks.

FUSED GLASS GEMS

Wednesdays, June 17th, 5:30 - 8:30 p.m.

& June 24th, 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.

Make a handful of glass "gems." Learn basic techniques for fusing glass into pendants, earrings, pins, tie tacks, etc. Each student will design 6-8 glass gems. Jewelry findings will be available for purchase. The last hour of the first class is spent minding the kiln. This is optional.

WIRE WRAPPING

Wednesday, July 1 5:30-8:30 p.m.

Bring those fabulous fused gems you made in a previous class or bring beach glass, polished stones or any other object you would like to turn into stunning jewelry. Included in the class fee is a 5 piece set of tools and the wire used in class. The tools are yours to take home.

Decorative One Stroke Painting Workshops
with Janet Regelman

Based on the One Stroke Painting method made popular by Donna Dewberry, Janet’s classes are one-day workshops, each workshop completes a different project. Great for beginners! Sign up for one or all! Brushes and materials are provided. Time of all classes is 5:30 - 8:30 p.m.

Acid Etched Pendant Workshop

for adults and teens

Create a one-of-a-kind pendant to show the world a person or event that is close to your heart. Acid etching on metal may be a mystery to you now, but you will learn the simple steps required to etch any design onto copper, brass or aluminum as well as ways to add patinas and permanently seal your design. Students will leave class with a unique pendant and a treasure-trove of ideas to create their next masterpiece. There is a list of optional materials to bring. Ask for this list when you register.

Resin Memory Bracelet Workshop

for adults & teens

Workshop fee: $60/$54 member rate

plus a $20 materials fee

Preserve the past and learn to capture images in resin to honor someone you love or to commemorate a special event (wedding, birthday, vacation, graduation, etc.). This memory bracelet is the perfect way to wear your heart near your sleeve, a constant reminder of people and events you treasure. Students will need to prepare images in advance for this class using a Xerox machine and color copier. This can be done at a number of local businesses. Ask for instructions when you register.
