New Ashtabula County Wine Experience Opens November 22

Several teachers from the AAC will be lending their talents to the Ashtabula Mall this holiday season, as part of the mall’s new Ashtabula County Wine Experience.

Held in the new Ashtabula Gallery (the recently renovated Family Toy Warehouse), the Wine Experience is a new holiday program which blends culture, fashion and food to provide consumers with a simple break from the stresses of holiday shopping. The Ashtabula Gallery will be open on Fridays and Saturdays from November 22 until December 21.

Several area wineries will be on hand throughout the event, providing samples and selling bottles of their delicious wines. Live music will be provided at times, in addition to wine making demonstrations, food tastings, and several different types of arts and crafts demonstrations.

Each of the five weekends will feature a different theme, such as romance, fashion, the arts, food and wines.

Many of the AAC’s talented visual arts instructors will be on hand during the “Arts Weekend,” November 29 and 30.

Claire Coulson will lead a calligraphy demonstration on Friday, from 7 - 8 p.m. This demonstration will show how to use calligraphy to make impressive cards, invitations and stationary.

Coulson will also teach a portion of her Ribbons, Bows and Roses holiday workshop on Saturday from 12 - 2 p.m. Featured as part of the AAC’s annual holiday workshop series, this workshop will show how to use bows and ribbons to decorate holiday packages. If you can’t attend the Coulson’s complete workshop here at the AAC, be sure to check out this “teaser” at the mall!

For those interested in learning painting techniques, don’t miss Rebecca Ollikainen’s demonstration on Friday from 1 - 3 p.m. Ollikainen has taught several painting classes and workshops at the AAC, and will be highlighting working with pastels during this workshop.

Children may want to check out Nataliya DeMarco’s Clay Sculpture for Children workshop on Friday from noon - 1 p.m. This demonstration will be a snippet of DeMarco’s current Saturday afternoon class at the Arts Center.

Rebecca Stowell will also be teaching a different form of working with clay, with the Terra Cotta Clay Demonstration on Saturday from 2 - 3 p.m. Stowell currently teaches clay classes at the AAC, and also as a part of the After School Discovery Program. Her demonstration will show how to make terra cotta bowls, pots, ornaments and other great holiday gifts.

If you can’t make it for Debbie LaPierre’s complete “Here Comes the Holidays” workshop at the AAC on December 3, you can catch a portion of it at the mall on Saturday, December 14. This workshop includes great holiday cooking and baking tips, as well as ideas for gift wrapping, decorating and entertaining for the holidays.

AAC Music Coordinator Lyn Savarise will entertain shoppers with a musical performance on Saturday, December 7, from 2 - 3 p.m.

For a complete schedule of events during the Ashtabula County Wine Experience, call the Ashtabula Mall at (440)998-2020 or visit their website at www.ashtabulamall.com

Be sure to come out and support our talented instructors and musicians!
