Theatre Arts Ball 2002:
Posted: Wednesday, November 06, 2002

Women’s Service League of Ashtabula County invites you to the 39th annual Theatre Arts Ball, to be held Saturday, December 7th, at the Ashtabula Country Club.

This year’s ball is entitled “A Victorian Affair,” and it promises to be an evening to remember! The event kicks off with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at 6:30 p.m. Dinner will be served at 7:30, followed by dancing at 9:00.

A silent auction featuring items from many area businesses and individuals will also be held throughout the evening, with bidding beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Music this year will be provided by a band called Intense. Visit the band’s website at www.thebandintense.com to learn more about this exciting and talented group!

Tickets for the ball are $125 per couple. Patron tickets are available for $150 per couple, and Grand Patron tickets are $200 per couple.

Co-chairs of this year’s ball are Cheri Cassady, Mary Beardsley and Fran Biddinger.

Committee members include Kim Coxon and Committee, Silent Auction; Jayne Koski and Baerbel Baginski, Patron Letter; Patty Anderson and Janet Hellmer, Programs; Mary Beardsley, Reservations; Cheri Cassady, Finance and Entertainment; Mary Beardsley, Fran Biddinger and Zelda Altman, Menu; Janet Hellmer, Volunteers; Mary Beardsley, Fran Biddinger and Committee, Decorations; and Cheri Cassady and Committee, Invitations.

The Theatre Arts Ball is the largest annual fundraising project held by the Women’s Service League, a nonprofit organization with a mission to promote the social, economic, cultural and intellectual development of Ashtabula County.

This year’s ball is even more special because WSL is celebrating its 40th birthday this year.

WSL sponsors theatrical, cultural and social events. Money-raising projects have expanded over the years to include the addition of new programs, scholarships, financial assistance and physical expansion of the Ashtabula Arts Center. Under the guidance of the Special Gifts and Special Allocations committees, gifts to the Ashtabula Arts Center have included an outdoor art sculpture, musical equipment, tools, computer programs, and audiovisual equipment.

In addition, the WSL program has included donations to other arts-related organizations including Shea Public Auditorium, Art Education of Ashtabula Public Schools, Ashtabula Chamber Orchestra, Ashtabula Society for the Handicapped, and Happy Hearts School.

Support WSL and the Ashtabula Arts Center by making a reservation to this year’s Theatre Arts Ball. For ticket information, contact Cheri Cassady at 964-2038. Reservations are due by November 22.
