High School Student to Premiere Movie at AAC:
|
Posted: Friday, December 13, 2002
Aspiring filmmaker Ian Jones will premiere his first movie in the Arts Center’s G.B. Community Theatre on Thursday, January 2.
Entitled “Crazy Ray,” the movie is a parody of Steven King’s “The Shining,” as well as several other movies. The cast consists of about ten Edgewood High School students, and actually began as just a summer project for the group. The movie has been in production since mid-June.
Jones says while “Crazy Ray” contains a lot of “high school humor,” and is geared mostly toward teenagers, anyone interested in seeing the movie is welcome to attend.
“There are worse ways you could spend an evening,” says Jones.
However, in order to get the most out of the show, Jones does recommend that you watch the Jack Nicholson version of “The Shining” before coming to see his movie.
He says he chose to make this type of movie because it was “the easiest thing to do.”
“This is the easiet way to keep people interested,” says Jones. “And it keeps the cast well-humored.”
A senior at Edgewood High School, Jones has been involved in the Arts Center’s theater department since he was in the fourth grade. He says he has been interested in filmmaking all of his life, and plans to major in filmmaking at Bard College in New York next fall.
Jones says that he wanted to premiere his movie as a fundraiser for the Arts Center because he considers it an important part of his life.
“I’ve done a lot at the Arts Center,” says Jones. “I’ve had many positive experiences here.”
Tickets for the screening of “Crazy Ray” are $3 each, with all of the proceeds being donated to the Arts Center. Tickets are available at the Arts Center, or by calling Jones at 224-1664.
