Time Again for Halloween Kids Day Out:
|
Posted: Monday, September 16, 2002
With summer behind us and fall weather soon to set in, it’s time to start preparing for the next big holiday on the calendar ... Halloween! The Ashtabula Arts Center is ready to get kids set for the holiday with a fun day of activities planned for NEOEA Day, Friday, October 11. This popular annual event will be held at the Arts Center from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
The Halloween Kids Day Out is a favorite for many kids because it is jam-packed with fun games, cool crafts and interesting activities themed toward the holiday. Developed and led by Visual Arts Coordinator Meeghan Humphrey, the event features different craft or activity stations, and kids rotate through them every half hour so that everyone gets a chance to complete each project.
Kids can make candle holders and bat decorations, decorate trick-or-treat bags, and create creepy drawings. They will also make a scary snack and bake a batch of gooey, stretchy glop to take home with them. There will be games galore, including the popular “slime pass” and “wrap a mummy.” Humphrey will also read a scary story, and teach kids to make fake blood and icky, scary looking scars.
Halloween Kids Day Out is geared toward children in grades 1 through 6. Space is limited to 60 kids, and usually fills quickly, so reservations are taken on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Cost for the day is $25 per child. Children coming to the event should bring a sack lunch, and wear clothes in which they can get messy.
Registration for Halloween Kids Day Out is required, and can be done by calling the Arts Center.
In addition, we are also looking for teenaged and adult volunteers to assist us with this event. No artistic experience is necessary, just your willingness to help out and have fun! If you are interested in volunteering, please call volunteer coordinator Sally VanAllen.
