Winter Workshops at the Arts Center:
|
Posted: Wednesday, December 10, 2003
The Arts Center has many workshops coming up to help you color those grey winter days!
Watercolor Workshop
Saturday, January 24
9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. (with a break for lunch)
$35 nonmembers / $31.50 members
John Peters will present a watercolor workshop, using watercolor paints on Masa paper. The final product will be a stunning painting of white birch trees against a background of fall foliage.
The Masa paper will be supplied. However, participants will need to bring a quarter sheet of “stretched” Arches 140 lb. Cold press. For those of you
unfamiliar with stretching paper, here is the process: soak paper for 15
minutes in water. Remove from water and place on board, then staple paper to board. Let dry on board and KEEP on board, do not remove - bring to workshop.
John uses Alizarin Crimson, Cadmium yellow, Ultramarine Blue, Burnt Sienna, Olive Green and Pelican or Pro White. If you do not have these colors or want to purchase them, bring similar colors you already have. Bring all your
regular watercolor equipment and get ready to have fun and produce a lovely painting.

Perfect little basket for your Valentine gift-giving! Woven on a 4-inch round slotted wood base, this basket is constructed using continuous weave. It holds a scented 23-ounce jar candle, which is included in the materials fee. The basket walls weave 4 inches high and the top half of the jar is exposed. Good for beginners.
Foot Stool - Two Thursdays, March 4 & 11, 5:30 - 9:00 p.m. each class
$28 Members / $30 Nonmembers

A darling little foot stool woven in a 2/2 twilled pattern, traditionally used on chairs. Maple wood frame will be pre-assembled and stained in walnut by instructor before class. This is ideal for teddy bears or dolls, and makes a perfect seat for little children, who find it just the right height. Students will learn to wrap the frame with reed, and weave both the top and underneath of the seat in what is sometimes referred to as “herringbone twill.” Stool stands 8 inches high with a 9-inch x 12-inch seat.
