Hair Braiding Workshop with Anzietta DiPierro Monday, October 17th 6 - 8 PM $ 10.80 Members / $12 Nonmembers Students in this workshop will learn many different braiding techniques, including a three strand French braid, a three strand classic braid, a five strand braid and variations of the three and five strand techniques. DiPierro will also give tips on dividing and combing to create a professional look. All combs and pins will be provided by the instructor. The class is designed so that students sign up in pairs, with one person learning the technique while the other sits to have their hair braided. All students must have at least shoulder length hair to participate in the workshop.
Batik Fall Flag with Anzietta DiPierro Saturday, September 24th 10 AM - NOON $ 18 Members / $20 Nonmembers plus $10 materials fee Using a 100% silk banner blank, students will design their own fall banner suitable for display. The instructor will demonstrate the technique of using resist to create your own design. Vivid dyes will be applied to lend color to your creation. Beginners will be amazed at the spectacular results this technique yields. This class is suitable for beginners and experienced artists alike.
Tie Dye T-Shirts with Meeghan Humphrey Saturday, October 15 2-4 PM $15 Non-members/$13.50 Members Use professional quality dyes in this class and learn some of the basics of hand dyeing techniques while making cool-looking t-shirts. Meeghan will provide a variety of colors to work with and instruction and you provide the creativity. These dyes give very vibrant, permanent results.This class is designed for anyone ages 10 and up so sign up with your child. Bring with you: Three 100% cotton t-shirts in your size. Blends and synthetics will not take the dyes or give nice results. Three pairs of socks if you want to make some socks as gifts. The higher the percentage of cotton, the better.

Martha Blair Pastel Workshop “Animal Portraits” Saturday, September 24th 9:30am-3:30pm $35 Non-Members/$31.50 Members (Payment required at registration) Students in this class will complete a portrait in either charcoal or pastels. Blair will guide students in a quick sketch for a warm-up. This will be followed by laying out the drawing on pastel paper and completed in either charcoal or pastels. Demonstration and guidance will be provided throughout the class. Required: A good close-up photo of your subject (your beloved pet). Photos taken from a distance are very difficult to work from. It would be helpful to have it blown up to 8x10 size. This can be done on a color copier or on a computer. Other materials: drawing board or easel, charcoal and conte pencils in brown and white, colored pastel or charcoal paper, a gentle eraser, and pastels. If you do not have all of these things, the instructor has lots of pastels and is willing to share with students. The Arts Center has drawing boards, easels and a selection of pastels also. If this is your first pastel class, we will lend you what you don't have and paper is available for purchase from the instructor.

Halloween is coming soon and the kids have a day off school!
Travel to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for Halloween Kid’s Day Out! October 14th 9:00 am - 4:00 pm $30 per child Payment is required at the time of registration.
J.K. Rowling’s fantasy school will be the setting and inspiration for our Halloween day. Come to the Arts Center and get sorted into your house. Will you be in Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw? Once sorted, you will receive your class schedule. Attend Potions class, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Divination, Care of Magical Creatures and Transfiguration. Even learn a magic trick and a spell or two!Many of your favorite activities will be back from last year. We will make fake blood, slime and all kindes of creepy decorations. Of course we will concoct a disgusting looking edible treat....

All of Janet’s classes are one-day workshops. All brushes and materials needed for the projects will be provided. - Prepayment is requireD - The One-Stroke Technique was developed by Donna Dewberry as a quick and easy technique for decorative painting. The technique involves blending, shading and highlighting, all in one stroke. Students can use the technique to paint on a variety of surfaces, including wood, plastic, fabric, glass and candles.
