Save the date! Women’s Service League of Ashtabula County Inc. and the Ashtabula Arts Center Board of Trustees present the Dining for the Arts Cocktail Party at the Harbor Golf Club on Saturday, May 6, 2006. “The Kentucky Derby”
Join us for an evening of horse racing, hot browns, derby pie, etc. while deciding which of this year’s wonderful culinary events you would like to attend! $30 Single/$50 Patron Single$60 Couple/$100 Patron Couple
Dinner parties to be hosted throughout the coming year will be available for signup. Those attending the cocktail party will receive first choice in selecting their dinners. Course: Flat 5K (3.1 mile) begins and ends at Arts Center.
Prizes: To the 10 finishers closest to prediction. Every entrant receives one free admission to an Arts Center theater production. Door prizes.
Fee: Students $6 Adults $10 Make checks payable to: Ashtabula Arts Center.

Martha Blair Watercolor Workshop “Lighthouses” Saturday, April 29th 9:30am-3:30pm $35 Non-Members/$31.50 Members Payment required at registration After her well-received pastel workshop, Martha Blair is returning to offer this unique watercolor workshop. Students will complete a painting of a lighthouse scene of their choosing. Bring a picture to work from or choose one from the selection provided. If you are an experienced painter, bring your usual materials and good quality paper (Arches or Strathmore 140lb). If you are new to watercolor and would like to try it out before you commit to buying materials, Martha will bring enough for you to work with. There will be a small charge to purchase paper. This is a great opportunity for experienced painter to get some guidance from a pro and for the new student to learn something about a new medium. Please register early.

Arts Preschool Ages 3 to 5 One three week session.June 19 - July 7(no class on July 4) Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. $40 Nonmembers$36 Members$20 deposit due at registration Team taught by Meeghan Humphrey, Nan Case and Shelagh DubskyDirected by Judy White This class is designed to introduce children to the arts and to some of the skills they will need when they attend school. Children will have an art, music and dance component plus a short snack break during each session. All of the teachers will work on group skills such as socialization, following instructions, taking turns, playing fair and respect for one another. These skills will be learned in a creative atmosphere that encourages success and building self-confidence. Frequently, the lesson plans will be carried through all three components with a related theme or story.
