The Good Life’s Annual Spring Concert features hits from over 20 Broadway musicals
If you can’t get to New York City to see your favorite musical, have no fear, as the Good Life will present a concert full of Broadway hits in April. The concert will be performed Friday, April 25 and Saturday, April 26. Both shows begin at 7:30 p.m.
The concert will kick off with a “Cohan Salute,” as the group performs toe-tapping tunes such as “Give My Regards to Broadway,” “The Yankee Doodle Boy,” and “You’re a Grand Old Flag.”
Once the audience is truly in the Broadway spirit, the group will continue on with songs from musicals like “Evita,” “Pippin,” “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” “Jesus Christ Superstar,” and “Cabaret.”
Go back to those “Summer Nights” with a medley of songs from the hit musical “Grease.” Ponder the “Traditions” of “Fiddler on the Roof.” And “Try to Remember” with music from “The Fantastiks.”
The group will also perform a collection of songs made famous by the late great musicians Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein, including “Shall We Dance” (from “The King and I”), “You’ll Never Walk Alone” (from “Carousel”), “Do-Re-Mi” (from “The Sound of Music”), “Surrey with the Fringe on Top” (from “Oklahoma!”), and “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair” (from “South Pacific”).
Soloist Verna Crouch will perform the tender love song “As Long As He Needs Me” from “Oliver,” the musical based on Charles Dickens’ novel “Oliver Twist.” The ladies of the Good Life will sings about “America” (from “West Side Story”) while the men will give voice to “Lida Rose” (from “The Music Man”).
Advance sale tickets for the concert are $6 Adults and $5 Seniors/Students. Tickets bought at the door the day of the event are $1 more. Tickets can be reserved by calling the Arts Center, or through Good Life members.
