K-6th Grade Workshop
Saturday, October 22 2:00 - 3:00 PM
Using understandable techniques, Dave will introduce the younger age group of students to the idea of using a music keyboard and a computer together to create songs. Using his laptop as his
“recording studio,” Dave will record and play back a part of a song and the students will experiment having the song play back with different instrument sounds. Dave will demonstrate how to add more parts to the song, filling it with drums, bass guitar, and other instruments. This process will enlighten the students as to how music is made today and inspire them to create their own music.
7th-12th Grade Workshop
Saturday, October 22 3:00 - 4:00 PM
Learn to create and use your own computer and music keyboard setup. Using advanced techniques, students will learn what MIDI is, how it is used in connecting the keyboard and computer together, and how it is used to compose and produce music. Music will be performed and recorded into the computer by playing from the keyboard. Notes will be viewed and edited in a variety of fashions. Students will learn to play drum beats and rhythms. A song will be created and built up to completion one part at a time. A student’s voice will be recorded and changed. Finally, Dave will mix the song, making it ready to be burned onto a CD, or converted into an MP3 file for the internet.
