“Brown Bag” Returns To Parks In Ashtabula and Jefferson

Pack your lunch, bring a lawn chair and enjoy mid-day music when the Ashtabula Arts Center’s Brown Bag Concert Series returns for the summer.

Held at the North Park Gazebo in Ashtabula each Wednesday and the Village Park in Jefferson on Thursdays, Brown Bag shows are held at noon and feature a different performer or musical group each week. Admission is always free.

Concerts are held rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather, the Ashtabula concerts are held at the First Presbyterian Church on Park Avenue. The Jefferson rain site is at the United Methodist Church, adjacent to the park.

The Brown Bag Theatre Concert Series features a varied group of artists that include folk, pop, country, brass, Broadway tunes and more. The Ashtabula series is sponsored by The Star Beacon. The Jefferson series is sponsored by Gazette Publications.

The first featured performer of the season in both Ashtabula and Jefferson on July 5 and 6, will be Bev Newbold singing a variety of wonderful folk songs on guitar. Originally from Western Kentucky, Bev was raised on southern gospel and traditional music. She appears at many area wineries and is a “regular” at the Old Firehouse Winery in Geneva-On-The-Lake.

The remaining performers in the Ashtabula Series which is sponsored by the Star Beacon will be: Dave Young on July 12; Erie Heights Brass on July 19; Bill Orqvist with his polka favorites on July 26; Linda Fundis singing country tunes on August 2; and Joshua Theilan singing pop and Broadway tunes on August 9.

The remaining performers in the Jefferson Series which is sponsored by Gazette Publications will be: Dave Young on July 13; Hambone and Chubby playing Blues on July 20; Ron Cramer singing folk, country and pop on July 27; Linda Fundis singing country tunes on August 3; and Joshua Theilan singing pop and Broadway tunes on August 10.
