The first main stage show of the 2005-2006 G.B. theatre season opens on Friday, September 30 with a wild comedy, Love, Sex and the I.R.S. This production, filled with twists of fate, sight gags, mistaken identities and hilarious lines, will run three weekends.
The story is set in a tiny New York City apartment where two male roommates, Jon and Leslie, share space and expenses. The trouble begins when the fact comes out that Jon has conned Uncle Sam by claiming Leslie as a tax deductible wife on his income tax return. When the Internal Revenue Service informs the couple that theyre sending an auditor to investigate, Leslie agrees to slip on a dress and masquerade Jons wife. But to complicate matters, I.R.S. Agent Spinner shows up several hours early, anxiously accepts Jons repeated drink offers and then tries to romance Jons fiance, Kate, who is having a secret affair with Leslie. The nosy landlord keeps popping in with threats of eviction. Jons mother gets a big surprise when she arrives unexpectedly and discovers that her son is married to the most ugly and repulsive woman she has ever seenLeslie. And Leslies girlfriend is completely bewildered when she walks in and finds her boyfriend wearing a dress!
Ticekts are $12 patrons, $10 adults, $9 seniors, $8 students.
Come early and try our dessert bar for only $2.50!
The first Saturday performance on October 1 will be preceded by an optional dessert bar beginning at 7:00 p.m. For $2.50, less than you would pay for a single dessert in most restaurants, theater patrons can try a sampling of many different desserts plus coffee, tea and hot chocolate. Dessert bar tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door.
And don't miss our dinners before the show!
Patrons can also enjoy a dinner before the performances on Saturdays, October 8 and 15. Dinners will be served in the Art Centers gallery where patrons can enjoy the monthly art exhibit of the Geneva Camera Club as they dine. Served at 6:30 p.m., patrons will have plenty of time to enjoy the company of family and friends without worrying that a long restaurant line will make them late for the show. The cost of dinner is $13. Diners can hear about the complete menu approximately two weeks in advance by calling the Arts Center (440) 964-3396. Reservations and pre-payment is required for dinner and must be made by the Thursday noon prior to the event.
