2928 West 13th St. Ashtabula, Ohio 44004 phone: 440-964-3396 Search This Site: MAY EXHIBIT: Posted: Tuesday, May 04, 2004 Works by the Lake Shore Artists May 5 - 30 Opening reception on Friday, May 14, 7 - 9 p.m. The Ashtabula Arts Center is proud to host an exhibition of works by the Lake Shore Artists group throughout the month of May. The exhibit will run May 5 – 30 in the gallery of the Arts Center, with an opening reception for the artists to be held Friday, May 14, from 7 – 9 p.m. Several types of artwork will be on display during the exhibit, including oil, watercolors, acrylics, pastels, wood carving graphics and painted furniture. Formed in 1973 under the name “Professional Artists of Ashtabula County,” the Lake Shore Artists group was at first open only to professional artists, with associate memberships available to educators, amateur artists and art students. In 1975, with membership in the group steadily growing, the name was changed to Lake Shore Artists, and the focus of the group switched to reflect the desires of all persons interested in the visual arts. Currently the Lake Shore Artists meet at the Arts Center on the second Friday of each month to critique works, share information and have demonstrations in technique. Anyone wishing to join the group is invited to attend a meeting, or contact Jan Bidlack at 466-3448 for more information. Many of the group’s works will be available for sale during the exhibit.
