Volunteer News and Notes - Sept./Oct. 2002:
|
Posted: Tuesday, August 27, 2002
Well, here we are at the end of yet another summer season. First of all, let us say THANK YOU SO MUCH to all of the volunteers who helped out with Straw Hat Theatre this summer. We had some tremendous houses this season - as well as some very hot weather - and we very much appreciate all of you who came and “sweated it out” under the tent with us. This includes the actors, too - if those of us in the seats were sweltering, imagine being up under all those lights on stage! Remember that our actors are volunteers also - and without them, we would not have been able to pull off such wonderfully entertaining shows as this summer held.
A big thank you also goes out to all those who helped with the annual Kidsfest event, which was held on the grounds of the Arts Center in August. While the turnout this year was lighter than we had hoped it would be, we still needed each and every one of you there to make the day a success.
Now it’s time to switch gears a bit, as activities at the Arts Center move back inside the main building once again - to the G.B. Community Theatre for our 2002 -2003 season, to the art rooms for Kids Days, and to all of the classrooms for a new class schedule. Before we know it, the weather will be turning cooler once again, and some of us will be thinking back fondly to the days of wearing shorts and sandals in the 90 degree heat of this past summer. While we at the Arts Center realize that the beginning of the school year and upcoming holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas are times when life starts to get hectic and crazy again (as opposed to the “lazy days of summer” - do those even exist anymore??), we also hope that you will continue to find time to fit us into your schedules, as you have this summer and at other times throughout the year. We truly do appreciate your help and dedication to the Arts Center! THANK YOU!
