Volunteer News and Notes - Nov/Dec 2002:
Posted: Wednesday, November 06, 2002

Brrr!! It sure is getting cold outside! It’s hard to believe that the holidays are again just around the corner for us. Is it just us, or did we seem to completely skip fall this year? It seems as though one day it was summer, and the next day there was the chill of winter in the air. By the time this newsletter reaches you we may have even seen a dusting or more of that infamous “lake effect snow.” Get ready for winter, Northeastern Ohio style!

In any case, if you need a place to warm up this season, be sure to stop in at the Arts Center. We have several activities on tap before the holidays that will require the help of our dedicated volunteers.

Coming up on stage are two shows with very large casts - “The Music Man” will have opened by the time you read this, and “The Nutcracker” will follow close behind in December. Because of the large casts and the number of children involved, we are looking for “backstage moms” to help keep order backstage and keep the kids entertained before and after their time on stage. Also, these shows are expected to have large audiences, so of course volunteers are needed to staff the box office, concession stand and to help usher before the show.

For those of you who would like to help, but don’t want to venture out on a cold evening, we have a few opportunities coming up for you to stay warm in your kitchens and volunteer for us at the Arts Center. If you like to cook, we can enlist your help preparing food for our artist reception on November 15, or Alex Bevan’s coffeehouse performance on November 22. No gourmet cooking experience required - if you can make cookies, breads, veggie trays or cheese balls, we need you!

As always, our heartfelt thanks go out to our dedicated and talented volunteers for all of their help. Without you, the Arts Center certainly would not be what it is. We at the Arts Center wish each and every one of you a safe and happy holiday season!
